Artist Statement Time-based meditative processes such as repetitive patterning and marking, weaving and stitching, inform my art. My focus is to make art that connects with my inner self embodying both my past and present. Through simple markings on various materials, I am experimenting with creating a visual language that is both personal and universal. In my recent graphics and paintings all one sees is a field of repeated circles. The pattern comes from the cellular structure of matter. Conceptually, these artworks are about looking closely. My work is not only about my inward journey, but it is also about examining the contemporary reality of today's world. The color and materials I choose --whether blue or gold in paintings or rice in an installation --speak to certain environmental and societal issues that intrigue me.
