He was classically trained in woodworking at Steinway and Sons Pianomakers in New York. Then he went on to become a master electrician with IBEW and semi-retired to Las Vegas in 2004. Rich took up welding as a hobby in 2008 and fell in love the art of sculpting metal. He regularly exhibits his work at local Las Vegas art shows and galleries. His work is in private collections in New York, Missouri, Las Vegas, and Ft Worth, and was chosen to be displayed at the very prestigious Venetian Hotel Art Walk in 2012. Rich received some notoriety after his commissioned sculpture "Tribute to Oppenheim" was featured on the Las Vegas Nightly News. The piece became the premier sculpture in the First Friday LLC Corporate Art Collection. Most recently, Rich returned from a very successful event in Ft Worth, Texas. He was the featured artist at ' Rebecca Low Art Gallery' for Spring Gallery Art Night.
