I was in accident in 2012. My spine stayed intact, but my body ended up coiled, asymmetrical and tense to the degree that I developed a tremor. This experience gave me an unique insight into tension within the body and how it could be felt almost as shape within a shape. I started a series of sculptures with the working title Reciprocal Inhibition, meaning that when one set of muscles relaxes the opposing set contracts. My own distorted body image drove me to explore the world of skeletons, muscles and fascia. I felt like I was trapped in a body suit that had twisted itself around me and the work became an embodiment of this entrapment.
