Nika ChernyaevaMoscow Russian Federation
Nika Chernyaeva was born in 1985 in Moscow. Graduated the Sociology department of Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 2010-2011 studied at the educational program «New Strategies in Contemporary Art Education» in the Institute of Contemporary Art in Moscow. In 2010 was shortlisted for Annya Sand Prize. In 2011 was longlisted for the Kuryokhin Art Prize (nomination «Best media-object»), in 2012 won Martini Art Prize and was awarded a grant for study in Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. Lives and works in Moscow. After graduating Sociology department of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Nika keeps being a sociologist researching the reality with qualitative methods that emphasize understanding of social phenomena through direct observation, communication with participants or analysis of texts and events, and stress contextual and subjective accuracy over generality. But at the end she puts the results of her research into shape of artworks, not sociological reports.
