I am an artist with a strong passion for enamel. In 1984, I graduated from The Art College in Moscow, Russia in the goldsmith department. As soon as I graduated I found a strong interest in working with enamel. In 2007, I moved to New York City and continued to use the material in unique ways. I was extremely interested in enamel because of its technological capabilities and the material itself. While working with enamel you can create many different combinations with unusual colors and shapes. Enameling is the technique of adding color to a surface made from copper, silver, or gold. The enamel powder is applied to the surface of the object and then put in a muffle kiln to create a glazed surface. The glazing temperature is from 600 to 900 Celsius. Each color requires a different temperature in order to be glazed properly. With a kiln of substantial dimension an artist can work on objects of a very large scale.
