The fantastical allure of fast phrases, bright lights and catchy icons is the heart of the beautiful disaster we all know well as Popular Culture. It's equivocal nature of force feeding us what we think we want to hear is layered in appetizing notions of purity that seem to give us a powerful sense of hope, belief and an instant gratification that what you see is what you really get. Some stay lost in this world forever and some dip in and out, realizing reality but having fun while getting lost in a sea of gaudy temptation. We all indulge, just to different degrees. The immense power of persuasion vocalized through advertising, packaging and whatever gets the most votes has an overwhelming ability to control our minds, our attitudes, our perception of what’s truly important and ultimately steers our lives in a direction that has been third party chosen for us. But hey, getting there is always half the fun. Through the vibrant use of mind catching colors, eclectic imagery and a jocund sense of vigilance, my work stands to examine and dissect everything about the pop sea that we love, hate, devour and wildly recycle endlessly. With the obsessive adoption of anthropomorphism the following work tells an endemic tale of glamorous greed. I myself as an artist have fallen victim, being captivated, motivated and eccentrically poisoned by the beauty that masks deception by creating works that playfully explore the minds behind Pop Culture propaganda at it's finest, Fast Food. And as we all know, "sex sells", and thereby incorporating this element, whether passively or bluntly, I have added a value less likely to be seen on the shelves of Stop 'N Shop but undoubtedly must work in my favor to sell, sell, sell. Even vulgarity can be beautiful, at lest at first glance, and if you use the right ingredients. I'm doing what America does best, changing trash to class.
