Unlike the traditional gallery guidelines of "don't touch," my work is intended to be accessible to the viewer not only through the eyes, but through hands, body and occasionally, ears. In that sense, my work shares the inherent interactive quality that furniture has with humans. My work asks, if not demands, to be touched or otherwise used in one's daily life. Throughout my career, one of my primary goals has been to create works which challenge the boundaries between utility and art. I intend for my functional sculptures to be not only visual statements but to include social commentary, humor and even sexuality as references which can be seen and understood.
